  1. Hi, I have read in various 1920s-1930s vintage newspaper articles that women would dress up as boudoir dolls and wear costumes for costume parties, etc, soem women even won prizes, and some of the prizes were boudoir dolls themselves! How cute! However, I don't think this photo inspired boudoir dolls to be created as the boudoir doll has been around since before this photo was taken (probably around 1925-1930). Just my two cents, Grace from Cleopatra's Boudoir

  2. You misunderstood what I wrote. I wasn't saying this particular photo inspired the creation of boudoir dolls. Boudoir dolls came into being before 1925.

Boudoir Doll Sighting - The Film "Speedy" - Harold Lloyd - 1928

Harold Lloyd, Ann Christy in "Speedy" 1928 - boudoir doll given away as prize at Coney Island.

Unfortunately, this YouTube film clip has the wrong music and repeats scenes and has scenes out of context so it doesn't represent the movie correctly. The Coney Island part of this movie, the way it originally was, was great! You might want to rent the DVD - Netflix has it. Anyway, boudoir doll starts at 3:54.........
