I highly recommend this movie. Despite the horrible trailer, this film was excellent! Without giving anything way, let's just say there were a couple of surprises in it. Reunion in France was made in 1942 and stars Joan Crawford, John Wayne with Philip Dorn and John Carradine.
"A Man About Town," starring Stan Laurel and Katherine Grant (on left), dated 1923. There is a half doll in the background, and check out the wax head wig mannequin.
Janet Gaynor with her look-a-like half doll. Click her name to view her Wikipedia bio. She starred in Street Angel in 1928 and won Best Actress. I recently saw this film - it's worth watching, and I can understand why she won Best Actress.
Thank you, Dominique, for sending me this postcard!
Jenny Paget and I wrote a magazine article for Doll Collector Magazine. It is now available in the September 2010 issue. The title of our article is "Boudoir Dolls - Messengers of the Past - Saving the Original Message."
I thought I had blogged about my first article I wrote back in March 2009 in the same magazine. The magazine was, at that time, called Contemporary Doll Collector. The title of the article is "Boudoir Dolls - Messengers of the Past - The Doll Choice by Movie Stars and Naughty Girls"
I'm not sure the maker of these pottery items, however, they're in line with Hull, McCoy, Weller and Shawnee. If anyone knows for sure who the maker(s) are, I'd appreciate knowing.
